How Does LipoDyne Work? One Capsule, Hour By Hour
LipoDyne works mainly through its caffeine. In one study, 100 mg raised resting metabolic rate 3 to 4 per cent over 150 minutes. The other ingredients are proposed to affect appetite, fat metabolism or absorption, but were tested at larger amounts. Nothing builds up from day to day.

- The measured effect is caffeine’s: 100 mg raised resting metabolic rate 3 to 4 per cent over 150 minutes in Dulloo’s 1989 trial.
- Caffeine reaches peak blood levels in roughly 30 to 45 minutes.
- The other five rows are extracts or powders with no strength printed, so their research doses cannot be matched.
- Black pepper extract is a carrier, not a metabolic active.
- One capsule is one short effect. Nothing accumulates, and there is no loading phase.
- The finished formula has never been trialled.
- The label claim is “Metabolism Support”, and no weight-loss claim is made.
What does a “fat burner” capsule actually do?
“Fat burner” is a shelf word, not a scientific one. Capsules sold under it tend to lean on three ideas: raise energy use for a short time, quiet appetite, or help the other ingredients get absorbed. Searches such as “what is a fat burner”, “how does fat burner work”, “how do fat burners work”, “how does fat burner capsules work”, “metabolism booster” and “fat burner booster” are really asking which of those ideas has evidence.
LipoDyne itself uses a quieter phrase. The bottle says “Metabolism Support”, and nothing else. This article follows that restraint. It separates what has been measured from what has only been proposed.
What happens in the first few hours after a capsule?
| Time after the capsule | What is measurable | What is only proposed |
|---|---|---|
| 0 to 45 minutes | Caffeine is absorbed and reaches peak blood levels | The extracts begin to be absorbed |
| 45 minutes to 3 hours | Resting metabolic rate sits a few per cent above baseline | Green tea catechins extend the same signalling caffeine acts on |
| 3 to 6 hours | The caffeine effect tapers as blood levels fall | Any vinegar or cayenne effect is small at these amounts |
| 6 to 12 hours | About half of the caffeine is still circulating at the five-hour mark for most adults | Nothing; the botanical rows are not sustained-release |
| Day to day | Nothing accumulates | Any appetite effect would build as a habit, not as a level |
Timings describe caffeine in healthy adults and vary with genetics, smoking and oral contraceptive use.
That last column matters. A metabolism capsule is easy to picture as something working quietly all day. This one gives a small, time-limited rise and then it is finished. It is why the timing advice is to take it early.
How big is the caffeine effect?
Dulloo’s 100 mg thermogenesis study is the anchor. Volunteers took 100 mg of caffeine, and resting metabolic rate rose 3 to 4 per cent over the next 150 minutes. When the dose was repeated every two hours across a day, the study reported about 150 extra kilocalories in the lean group and 79 in the post-obese group. A single capsule a day is one instance of that effect, not a repeated one.
Astrup’s dose-response trial then gave 100, 200 and 400 mg and found the response grew with the dose, so 100 mg sits at the low end of a rising curve. And a 2022 cycling trial found caffeine raised energy use during exercise without changing which fuel was burned. In other words, the rise is in how much work is being done, not a switch to burning fat.
What are the other LipoDyne ingredients proposed to do?
| Row | Proposed job | Where it was tested | What is missing here |
|---|---|---|---|
| Garcinia cambogia extract, 500 mg | Hydroxycitric acid may slow fat-making and dampen appetite | 1,500 mg of acid a day for 12 weeks in the JAMA trial, which found no advantage over placebo | No acid percentage is printed |
| Green tea extract, 250 mg | Catechins may extend the life of noradrenaline, which caffeine also acts on | 583 mg of catechins or 857 mg of EGCG a day for 12 weeks | No catechin percentage is printed |
| Apple cider vinegar powder, 150 mg | Acetic acid may slow stomach emptying and blunt the glucose rise after a meal | 15 mL or 30 mL of liquid vinegar a day for 12 weeks | 150 mg of powder is nowhere near that |
| Cayenne pepper extract, 50 mg | Capsaicinoids give a modest rise in energy use | Pooled effect of about 34 to 50 kcal a day, counted in capsaicinoid milligrams | No capsaicinoid figure is printed |
| Black pepper extract, 10 mg | Piperine raises absorption of other compounds | 20 mg of piperine with 2 g of curcumin | There is no curcumin on this panel |
If you came looking for an “appetite suppressant”, note that the bottle makes no appetite claim. Garcinia is the row proposed to dampen appetite, and its trial found no advantage over placebo.
The 1999 chamber study is the paper closest to this panel. In it, green tea extract with caffeine raised 24-hour energy expenditure by about 4 per cent where matched caffeine alone did not. That is a reason the two are formulated together. It does not tell us what 250 mg of an unstandardised extract does.
Does LipoDyne work without diet and exercise?
The research does not support that. A comparison of thermogenics with diet and exercise found that supplements of this type could not take the place of diet and exercise, and a review of 315 weight-loss supplement trials reached the same place across the wider category.
Every trial cited on this site ran alongside a controlled diet, and the ones that found anything found it in addition to the diet, not instead of it. A capsule that adds a small nudge to a habit is a fair description of LipoDyne. A capsule that replaces the habit describes nothing on sale.
What has never been measured about LipoDyne?
The finished formula has never been trialled. Every study named here tested one ingredient, usually against placebo and usually at more than this panel carries. Nobody has published a result for these six materials together, in these proportions.
There is also no reason to assume the combination adds up like a sum. A review of multi-ingredient caffeine supplements is candid about how rarely interactions between ingredients have been studied. What can honestly be said is narrow: the caffeine will do what 100 mg of caffeine does, and the rest is inference.

Our view
Our view is that LipoDyne works the way a cup of coffee works, plus five botanical rows that cannot be checked against their research. That is not a criticism so much as a description. The mechanism is real, small and short-lived.
If you like the idea of a simple, regular morning habit, that is a fair thing to buy. If you were hoping for a deep change in how your body handles fat, the evidence does not stretch that far, and no honest page can say it does.
